A lovely silver finish metal antique chamber stick holder with a snuffer and chamber stick handle. The edges of the candlestick holder have three lovely etched stripes and detailed cross etchings which really add to the age of the piece.
Chamber sticks date from the second half of the 18th century and disappeared as soon as gas and lighting were introduced in the late 19th century. From c1720 the ring or scroll handle was a standard (as this one has) with a slot of a conical extinguisher. The boarder on the pan of the chamber stick follows those found on the salvers of the time.
Height: 8cm (to height of handle)
